Servant hood. It can seem so complex to some but truly has a simple meaning; a true leader or follower of Christ expresses his ultimate love for the Lord in how he serves and loves others. ( 2 Corinthians 4:5 ) For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.

The Bible has a great deal to say about servant hood and what it looks like because the central theme of the Bible is the servant of all - Jesus.

Mark 10:43-45 says, "Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, came to whaaaat? Serve. He came to serve. If you read the New Testament, the gospels, you will see that Jesus' life was all serving. He served the people, He fulfilled their needs, He healed them, He made time for them.

General Bruce C. Clarke, a retired General of the US Army { this man served in WWI, WWII and the Korean war } stated this quote, "Rank is given you to enable you to better serve those above and below you. It is not given for you to practice your idiosyncrasies."

This general understood servant hood. We are not given a certain title so that everything we want  or everything we need is served or known; we are given responsibility so that we have a greater ability to serve, higher. If I had more money, I'd give more of it away. If I had more time {didn't have to work} I'd volunteer more.

All believers are called to ministry (Matthew 28:18-20) and therefore are all called to be servants of God. Lets serve others by serving Christ. God, as the Father, has served us by sacrificing His ONLY SON on the cross for our sins, and we should serve others by giving them the gospel, having intimate and healthy relationships with them, helping them in their time of need.

Serving is action. Serving is love in motion. Be bold, serve bold, love bold.
